Cosplay Newbie

Another late post, this was from back in June 2016! After all the tremendous fun we had at Anime Boston, it was time to try our first comic convention! I went as  FemCrowley, this time no wig. Neither of us had been to a comic con before, so we were not really sure what to expect. We knew there would be celebrities, which was an exciting to think about, because Nichole and I had never meet anyone famous before. We are both the kind of people who aren't easily "star struck." As much as I admire a person's work, they are people after all, and there is a small handful that I really would like to meet. Two such people were at Denver Comic Con this year! It is the night before the Con, and Nichole and I will be flying the red-eye flight to Boston from Denver Colorado. Will we be able to sleep on the plane? Will the plane be packed full of people? Will all of our carefully packed costumes make it in one piece?!?! Dun Dun DUNNNNNN! Our bags are packed, everything that can be done is finished, and hopefully we get a nap in before the flight! Black clothing. Steel gray tie. Bad attitude. Crowley is the King of Hell for good reason, and I get to dress up as him! To help make a dent in the overwhelming prospect of having to have three different costumes for my first cosplay, I decided to get one early and dress up as Crowley for Halloween. Step one for me was to then take a look at Crowley, figure out what he wears most often, and then write a list of items that I would need to make that outfit. Crowley is the easiest of my cosplays to do because I didn't have to make anything for this costume. Let's look at Crowley's most common outfit: He basically just wears black. A Nice black suit, a gray tie, and that's it. I have never made my own costume. Not really. The most I have done is fit bits and pieces together for Halloween, the best of which was a werewolf costume I put together in college.
