Marathon Day to get cosplay DONE, and additional updates

Image
We had been procrastinating. Dragging our feet and stalling every Sunday, and while Colie and I managed to get a lot done, we found ourselves at the end of February with a long list of things still to do, and con was waiting just around the corner. So, Colie and I decided to have a "cosplay marathon" where we lock ourselves in our craft room and cosplay all day, getting as much done as possible! On February 26, a Sunday, we started around 12, and all motivation died after a hefty spaghetti dinner at 6pm. However, I was able to get a few things on my checklist done! Including: __ Style Yoruichi's wig __ Yoruichi's belt __  Ironed on Goku's Kami house symbol __ Finished sewing on stupid bias tape on white part of Yoruichi's jacket We made a progress video, for your viewing pleasure: I really thought I was going to get everything done, but alas, not the case. So, the very next Sunday, March 5, we did another cosplay marathon. This time, we had f...

Apple Jack Cosplay

Image
This cosplay might be another one of my favorites. It's going to be comfortable, and better yet, Colie and Manda will be cosplaying from this show as well! While I will be cosplaying a human version of the pony Applejack, Colie will represent the unicorn Rarity (who is often ad odds with Applejack even though they're friends...Rarity likes staying clean and elegant, Applejack has no qualms getting her hooves dirty) and Manda will be portraying the pegasus Rainbow Dash (Also BFF's with Rarity and Applejack, but often competes with Applejack on which one of them is the sportiest). This is a casual and fun cosplay that I am looking forward to! Apple Jack's outfit is made up from clothing I had, and a few items I found in stores. The boots were a Walmart find, the cowboy hat came from Spirit of Halloween, and the tank top was a Goodwill find. The plaid shirt and jeans were something I already had. CHECKLIST: __ Wig __ Plaid shirt (already had!) __ Orange t...

Fem Goku Cosplay

Image
Dragon ball Z has always been my favorite growing up, and I used to anxiously await every episode. I believe I started watching it as early as middle school, and in high school one of my best friends who was also into the show would call me after each show and we'd talk about it for hours. I was Goku, she was Vegeta.  The fact that I have a chance to cosplay my favorite anime character at my second Anime Boston Convention is a huge thrill, and even though no one else in my group will be cosplaying any Dragon Ball characters, I am hoping to find someone at con that I can get some pictures with. I heard there might be a Piccolo on the same day as me, and I really want to meet her! Goku was a cosplay I planned on making from scratch from the start. I wanted to try my hand at it this year, and Goku's outfit is a lot less intimidating. It's practically pjs!  Which is why when I went looking for patterns I ended up with a pattern for pjs! Originally, I plann...

Yoruichi Cosplay

Image
I watched Bleach for the first time back in high school, and have been a fan for quite some time. I tend to enjoy animes that have a lot of fighting in them, so of course Bleach fits the bill. Better yet, there are a lot of strong, interesting female characters to choose from which really makes me happy. The hard part was picking who I would like to cosplay, and I had it narrowed down to Nelliel (but her outfit is skimpy) Rukia (I was afraid it would be hard to make her recognizable) Yachiru, Sui Feng, or Yoruichi. Really hard pick, but I ended up choosing Yoruichi because I love her character, and she wears my favorite color; orange.  Originally my plan was to buy the jacket I would need for Yoruichi, but when I was out with Colie shopping for fabrics and patterns to make my Goku outfit, I realized that Yoruichi had roughly the same design. I could try to make it, it wouldn't be that hard.... The pattern on the left To say we started cosplaying late this year i...
